‘Dreams Really Do Come True’ is a light-hearted and sometimes
serious collection of escapades that chart the journey to the fulfilment of
Cherryl and Ian’s dream.
The dream? Not an original
one by any means; to live on a narrowboat and explore the English canal system.
Having champagne taste and
beer money, a fully-fitted narrowboat was unaffordable. They had to draw on common
sense and shear tenacity to turn the dream into reality when they bought a
‘project boat’ that looked like a long grey battleship, and fitted her out over
a period of time – not without its ups and downs.
The diagnosis of cancer and subsequent treatment
threatened to turn the dream into a nightmare but patience and persistence won
the day and galvanised the two into taking to the water sooner rather than
later
